One of the best ways to build a beginning reader’s confidence is to put books in their hands that they can read. These emergent readers are perfect for beginning readers as they contain a focused word family with pictures to match. These books also give students the opportunity to practice reading their sight words. They are some of my favorite resources to use when teaching my Littles how to read. Keep reading fun and exciting as your Littles interact with their books by coloring in and writing in them.
This set includes four differentiated emergent readers for the -at word family! The four books included are:
- A book with a simple picture and sentence using common kindergarten sight words and following a predictable pattern.
- A book with a simple picture and sentence using common kindergarten sight words and following a predictable pattern. These books will also call students’ attention to the –at word family word and have them trace the “at” in the word family word.
- A book with a simple picture and one word that names the picture. Students will trace the whole –at word family word.
- A book with a simple picture and sentence using common kindergarten sight words and following a predictable pattern. These books also include dots for students to touch while reading.
This set can be used in whole and/or small group instruction, for intervention, and/or sent home with your students to practice at home. Once your students have mastered the words on the page, you can do a word study and have them highlight, or circle, the word family word pattern on each page.
Each page has the same book on the top and bottom of the page to make printing, copying, cutting, and sorting easier and save you time!
